REducing the risk of COVID-19

COVID-19 Protocols and Procedures

Pathways Play Therapy Services is committed to reducing the risk of exposure and transmission of COVID-19.

Arriving at the Playroom

  • Please arrive on time for your appointment (our waiting room is currently closed).
  • You will be asked to complete a COVID-19 Screening Checklist before entering the building.
  •  If your child passes the screening they may have their temperature taken outside the front door, and if under 38 degrees Celsius, will be allowed to enter the building.
  • Children will be asked to wear a mask and sanitize their hands before entering the playroom.
  • If your child begins to experience any symptoms of COVID-19 while in the playroom, their play therapy session will be ended and you will be contacted for pickup. Environmental cleaning of the space your child was in will be conducted once they have left.
  • Staff will comply with the same screening verification and will reschedule any in-person appointments as required.

Playroom Enhanced Cleaning Procedures

Enhanced cleaning procedures are in place during this time and include the following:

  • The playroom furnishings, including tables, chairs, and equipment, as well as high-touch surfaces, are cleaned between each appointment.
  • All toys are sanitized after each use and before returning to the shelves.
  • The playroom is thoroughly cleaned at the end of each day.
  • The playroom is thoroughly cleaned, outside of office hours, once per week.
  • There is currently no eating or drinking in the playroom.

If your Child or Someone in your Household is Sick

(as per the current direction of the BC Centre for Disease Control - January 2022)

  • If your child feels sick or has any symptoms related to COVID-19, please keep them at home. You will not be charged any fees for sickness-related cancellations.
  • If someone in your household is sick and has symptoms of COVID-19 BUT your child does NOT have any symptoms of COVID-19, your child is welcome to come for play therapy.
  • More information regarding the CDC’s guidelines can be found at http://www.bccdc.ca/Health-Info-Site/Documents/Instructions_covid19_close_contact.pdf

  • After the 5 days, they are welcome to return to play therapy as long as their fever is gone without medication and their symptoms of COVID-19 have improved.
