Play Therapy with Kiilea

Play Therapy Support

At Pathways Play Therapy Services, my mission is to support children’s mental and emotional wellbeing, strengthen their attachments, and increase their connection to self. As a play therapist and child counsellor, I work exclusively with children and those who care about them.

My approach is based in an understanding of the brain and nervous system, attachment, mindfulness, and regulation. This means that I will support your child at a deeper level, working with them to process the challenging behaviours, emotions, and thoughts that are causing distress. I will teach them new ways to regulate their emotions, sensory needs, and energy, and give them skills that they can use day-to-day.

Just as importantly, I will also partner with you to make sense of the struggles your child is facing and uncover ways to help them live a more joyful and fulfilled life.

My ultimate goal is for your child to get to be their own healthy and connected one-of-a-kind self, and for you to feel supported as we help them get there.

I support children ages 2-13 years old with:

  • behavioural issues and outbursts
  • foster and adoption experiences
  • traumatic experiences
  • family conflict and separation
  • emotional sensitivity
  • oppositional defiance
  • attention issues and hyperactivity
  • sensory processing challenges
  • identity
  • issues related to gender and sexual orientation
  • anxiety and worries
  • sadness and depression
  • learning difficulties
  • social struggles
  • challenging transitions (living with a new family, parental divorce, going to a new school, etc.).
